Training centers of the Ukrainian Defence Forces have increased the duration of general military training of mobilized soldiers from 30 days to 1.5 months.
This was announced by the head of the Main Department of Doctrines and Training of the AFU General Staff, Major-General Ihor Palagnyuk, in a commentary for Ukrinform.
This decision was made by the Commander-in-Chief of the AFU after assessing the current results on the basis of four key military training centers.
About 500 recruits are already taking part in the new course, which is being piloted.
According to Palagniuk, the increase in training time is part of the “Preservation of Military Life” program aimed at improving training.
The main innovations are:
- Strengthening firearms training – from 68 hours to 101 hours, from 300 rounds of ammunition per recruit to 850, from 23 shooting exercises from different positions to 45;
- training on additional weapons (machine gun, hand-held anti-tank grenade launcher, automatic grenade launcher);
- more tactical training and engineering training;
- new training areas have been introduced, including combat operations under enemy drone conditions, medical aid, and familiarization with trench ERB equipment.
