Critical power line repairs have begun near the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant following a locally agreed ceasefire. This was reported by the International Atomic Energy Agency.

IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi said the work started after another agreed “window of silence,” allowing the restoration of power transmission between the switchyards of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant and the Zaporizhzhia Thermal Power Plant. The repairs are expected to last several days and are being monitored by the IAEA team on the ground.

The agency stressed that the repairs are part of ongoing efforts to prevent a nuclear accident during the military conflict. Grossi thanked both sides for agreeing to the temporary cessation of hostilities in the area, noting that restoring stable power supply is essential for strengthening nuclear safety at the Zaporizhzhia NPP.
