        Two killed, more than 40 homes damaged in overnight strike on Sumy

        Two people were killed in a massive Russian attack involving jet-powered drones on Sumy overnight on August 17. Another local resident was injured.

        The updated consequences of the strike were reported by Serhii Kryvosheienko, head of the Sumy City Military Administration.

        A 75-year-old man and a 72-year-old woman were killed in a residential area of the city’s Zarichnyi district. A 52-year-old woman was wounded and received medical assistance.

        Strikes were recorded at two locations. Two houses were completely destroyed, while another 42 private properties were damaged. The attack damaged 33 roofs and shattered more than 100 windows.

        Russian forces attacked Sumy late on August 16. Jet-powered drones struck homes in a residential area, while Geran-type drones targeted a piece of civilian municipal infrastructure. Fires broke out at the impact sites.

        Emergency crews are continuing to deal with the aftermath of the attack.
