Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump expressed condolences following the death of Senator Lindsey Graham. Zelenskyy described him as a true defender of freedom and a friend of Ukraine, while Trump called him an American patriot and one of the greatest senators he had ever known.

Zelenskyy stressed that Graham had visited Ukraine 10 times since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion and had stood with Ukrainians during the most difficult moments.

“We were in constant dialogue, which I will miss. In the past week alone, we met twice,” the Ukrainian president wrote.

According to Zelenskyy, Graham had recently been working on initiatives that could help bring peace closer, including stronger sanctions against Russia.

The president also highlighted the senator’s role in advancing bipartisan and bicameral support for Ukraine in the US Congress.

“We will always be especially grateful for his words of respect for our people and for the courage of Ukraine’s defenders. America and the world have lost a determined leader,” Zelenskyy said.

He offered condolences to Graham’s family, loved ones and everyone who had the honor of working with him.

Donald Trump also reacted to the senator’s death.

“Senator Lindsey Graham, one of the greatest people and senators I have ever known, is dead. He was always working and was a true American patriot,” the US president wrote.

Trump added that Graham “will be greatly missed” and said details of the funeral arrangements would be announced later.
