U.S. President Donald Trump said during his speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos that he planned to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy “today.” However, Ukrainian officials later said that Zelenskyy was in Kyiv at the time.

Speaking in Davos, Donald Trump said he was dealing with Russian President Vladimir Putin and believed Putin wanted to make a deal. He also said he was working with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and believed Zelenskyy wanted to reach an agreement as well. Trump added that he was planning to meet Zelenskyy later that day.

At the same time, European Pravda reported that there were reasons to believe the U.S. president may have misspoken about the timing of the meeting. According to the outlet, a meeting in Davos may take place, but not on Wednesday.

Ukrainian presidential adviser Dmytro Lytvyn later told journalists that as of 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, President Zelenskyy was in Kyiv.

Earlier, on January 20, Zelenskyy said that any meeting with the U.S. side in Davos should be based on concrete results. He also suggested that he might not travel to Switzerland for the World Economic Forum due to the crisis situation in Ukraine’s energy sector.
