Traffic on Kyiv’s North and South bridges will be restricted following Russian strikes. The North Bridge will be partially closed in the direction from the left bank to the right bank due to damage to the road surface, while traffic on the South Bridge has been reduced to one lane.
Kyiv City Council deputy Volodymyr Bondarenko said this on Espreso.
According to him, the North Bridge has sustained structural damage to its road surface, so traffic from the left bank to the right bank will be restricted.
Traffic on the South Bridge has been partially reduced to one lane in both directions.
The metro has been switched to a “yellow alert mode” due to the situation.
According to Bondarenko, the other bridges in the capital will continue operating normally for now, subject to the restrictions provided for under the “yellow alert mode.”
He stressed that the situation could change depending on further Russian attacks.
“Unfortunately, bridge crossings are now one of the main targets of the Russian Federation,” the deputy said.
Bondarenko also said the morning attack took place at around 10:20. According to him, two people were injured in the strike.
In addition to the road surface, a heating main running across the bridge between the right and left banks was damaged.
As a result, hot water supply is temporarily unavailable in the Desnianskyi district.
Kyivteploenergo specialists are already working to repair the damage and restore the network.
Bondarenko noted that it is currently difficult to make long-term forecasts about traffic in the capital, as further strikes could change the transport situation.
