Belarusian self-proclaimed President Alexander Lukashenko claimed that he recently met in Minsk with “Zelenskyy’s representatives” and conveyed a warning to the Ukrainian president through them.

This was reported by glavnoe.in.ua, citing a video statement by Lukashenko.

According to Lukashenko, he allegedly told the Ukrainian representatives that if Kyiv believes it can “speak this way” to Minsk and “drag” Belarus into the war, it should understand that the nature of the war could “change instantly.”

“This will be a completely different war,” Lukashenko said.

At the same time, he claimed that Minsk “does not need war” and that Belarus allegedly has enough of its own land, economy and domestic problems.

“If they want peace, let’s negotiate substantively. We do not need war. We have enough land, enough of our own economy, and enough problems. Therefore, no confrontation,” Lukashenko said.

He also said there was “no need to get heated,” shout or try to act by force, and called instead for talks “in a human way.”

Lukashenko’s statement came amid rising tensions between Kyiv and Minsk. Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Belarus must remove equipment that, according to the Ukrainian side, is being used by Russia to guide strikes against Ukraine.

Zelenskyy warned that if Minsk fails to do so, Ukraine will act on its own.

Belarus has remained Russia’s ally since the start of the full-scale invasion. In 2022, Russian forces used Belarusian territory to launch an offensive against Ukraine, and Minsk has continued to provide Moscow with political and military-logistical support.
