There is a possibility of a radioactive substance leak at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, said Oleksandr Titarchuk, the plant’s chief engineer.
He also clarified that the radiation background has not changed.
On the night of February 14, a Russian attack drone with an explosive warhead hit a shelter over the fourth power unit of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. A fire broke out and was quickly extinguished. The damage to the protective structure was significant.
The Security Service of Ukraine opened a criminal investigation into the Russian strike on the shelter of the 4th power unit of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. Inside and near the shelter, fragments of a drone’s hull and engine were found.
The SBU is investigating the shelling under Article 438 of the Criminal Code – violation of the laws and customs of war.
