The Security Service of Ukraine has opened a criminal investigation into a Russian strike on the shelter of the 4th power unit of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
A hit by a Geranium-2 (“Shahed”) kamikaze drone equipped with an explosive warhead was recorded. The fragments of the drone’s body with a serial number were found inside and near the shelter.
The attack damaged the shelter structure. The radiation background in the exclusion zone remains within normal limits, and no leakage of radiation substances has been recorded.
The SBU is investigating the shelling under Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – violation of the laws and customs of war.
