On the night of February 14, a Russian attack drone with an explosive warhead hit the shelter of the destroyed 4th power unit of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskiy.
According to Zelenskiy, the shelter at the Chornobyl nuclear power plant was damaged by a Russian drone. The fire has been extinguished. At present, the radiation background has not increased. According to first estimates, the damage to the shelter is significant.
“Ukraine built this shelter together with other countries of Europe and the world, together with America – with everyone who wants real safety for people. The only state in the world that can attack such facilities, occupy the territory of nuclear power plants and conduct hostilities without any regard for the consequences is today’s Russia. And this is a terrorist threat to the whole world,” the president wrote.
Zelenskiy emphasized that Russia attacks Ukrainian infrastructure and cities every night, builds up its army and does not change its aggressive rhetoric. This shows that Putin is not preparing for negotiations, but is only trying to mislead the world. Therefore, joint pressure is needed to make the aggressor accountable for his actions.
