Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence said Russian security services failed in their attempt to assassinate RDK commander Denis Kapustin. As a result of a special operation, his life was saved, and the funds allocated for the killing will be used to strengthen HUR units.
This was reported by Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine. According to HUR, Russian security services ordered the assassination of Denis Kapustin, commander of the Russian Volunteer Corps, who is fighting against Moscow as part of HUR’s “Tymur Special Unit”, allocating half a million dollars for the operation.
As a result of a comprehensive special operation by HUR, which lasted more than a month, Kapustin’s life was saved. The organisers of the crime within Russian security services, as well as the executors, were identified. This was reported during a briefing to the head of HUR, Lieutenant General Kyrylo Budanov, by the commander of the Tymur Special Unit.
According to Tymur, the Ukrainian side also obtained the funds allocated by Russian security services for the assassination. At present, the RDK commander is on Ukrainian territory and is preparing to continue carrying out assigned tasks.
Kyrylo Budanov congratulated Denis Kapustin, who joined the briefing via video link, and said he was pleased that the money paid for the contract killing had been redirected to support Ukraine’s fight.
Kapustin, known by the call sign White Rex, reported that he is ready to continue leading the unit in combat and special operations, stressing that his temporary absence did not affect the quality or success of mission execution. Budanov thanked Tymur and the intelligence team for the successful operation.
