Ukrainians traveling abroad are advised to obtain a stamp or another mark in their passport confirming that they crossed the state border. This is related to the introduction of new rules for obtaining temporary protection in the EU.

This was stated by the Embassy of Ukraine in Germany.

The diplomatic mission explained that the recommendation applies to Ukrainian citizens regardless of gender or age. When leaving Ukraine, travelers are advised to ask officers of the State Border Guard Service to place a stamp or another mark in their passport confirming the border crossing.

The embassy noted that the recommendation is related to Council Implementing Decision (EU) 2026/1912 of July 30, 2026, and is intended to help minimize possible problems when applying for temporary protection in EU member states.

If a person is already outside Ukraine, official information about crossing the state border can be obtained from the Main Center for Processing Special Information of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

Additional explanations regarding the new rules are expected to be published soon on the official websites of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and Ukrainian diplomatic missions abroad.
