Chief of the General Staff Oleksandr Syrsky reported that the priority deployment of unmanned systems units is yielding concrete results: in October, the Armed Forces’ unmanned aerial vehicles struck 77,000 enemy targets. He made this statement at a regular working meeting on the development of unmanned systems in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to Syrsky, FPV drones and heavy bombers demonstrated the best combat performance. Ground-based robotic systems are also being actively developed: in October, they delivered almost 300,000 kilograms of supplies to units, evacuated the wounded, and carried out mining and combat operations. The primary task for the use of ground robots is to save the lives of personnel.

The meeting heard an intelligence report on the development of the enemy’s unmanned forces: the occupiers are following Ukraine’s example, creating regiments of unmanned systems and interceptor drones, directing significant resources to this end. Syrsky emphasised the need for continuous improvement in order to maintain technological superiority.

Particular attention is paid to scaling up the Unmanned Systems Forces units — increasing the number of trained crews, recruiting personnel, and creating infrastructure for their effective operation. The introduction of new tactics for the use of drones and systems that are more resistant to enemy electronic warfare will also continue.

Syrsky added that in October, twice as many short-range electronic warfare systems were delivered to the front compared to September, which should increase the effectiveness of countering enemy UAVs. He thanked the soldiers of the Unmanned Systems Forces for their contribution to increasing enemy losses and developing the unmanned component of the Armed Forces.
