Five heads of regional prosecutor’s offices and the head of one of the specialized prosecutor’s offices in the sphere of defense have written applications for dismissal from their posts.
This was reported by Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin.
“These are the heads of Zaporizhzhya, Rivne, Ternopil, Kharkiv, Cherkassy regional Prosecutor’s offices and specialized prosecutor’s office in the sphere of defense of the Southern region. All of them received increased pensions in connection with seniority, appointed by court decision”, – stated in the message.
Also today in the Office of the Prosecutor General held the first meeting of the independent Commission for the selection of candidates for inclusion in the personnel reserve to fill senior positions in regional and district prosecutor’s offices.
“I initiated the creation of this commission to increase the transparency of the appointment process for such positions. This is one of the first elements of a comprehensive HR-reform of the prosecutor’s offices, launched in July this year. The commission will assess the professional qualities and reputation of candidates,” Kostin added.
In addition, the Council of Prosecutors supported the introduction of amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On Prosecutor’s Office”, which are designed to make it impossible for prosecutors to receive pensions simultaneously with their salaries.
“According to these proposals, payment of pensions for long service to prosecutors will be made only after their dismissal from work. That is, according to the principle: either a salary or a pension. The relevant developments will be transferred to the subject of legislative initiative”, – summarized the Prosecutor General.
