        Russian troops attacked Ivano-Frankivsk region

        On 17 February, Russian troops struck Ivano-Frankivsk region. Explosions were heard in the region.

        The first air raid alert in the Ivano-Frankivsk region began at 3:39 a.m. and ended at 4:29 a.m. Between 3:44 and 4:12 a.m., groups of Russian UAVs were detected in the region, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.

        The second air raid alert in the Carpathian region began at 6:10 a.m. A series of explosions was heard in Burshtyn between 7:07 and 7:09. This happened after the Ukrainian Air Force warned of cruise missiles heading towards the region and the city. Prior to this, the head of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration, Svitlana Onyshchuk, also warned of Russian missiles in the region’s airspace. As is known, the largest thermal power plant in the Carpathian region is located in the city of Burshtyn.

        At 7:41 a.m., explosions were heard again in Burshtyn, according to a correspondent for Suspilne.

        This is the second attack by the Russian army on Ivano-Frankivsk region in 2026.
