Colonel-General Gennady Anashkin, who led the Russian army’s ‘South’ troop grouping, has reportedly been removed from his position. Russian military bloggers, as cited by “Baza”, claim the dismissal was due to “unjustified losses” and Anashkin’s alleged reluctance to convey the true situation on the front lines to the high command.

The Telegram channel “Rybar” described the leadership change as a reaction to persistent issues in the Seversk direction, including significant losses. Military correspondent Yuri Kotenok echoed this, writing on his Telegram channel:

“The decision reportedly stems from the situation in the Seversk direction, as well as Anashkin’s unwillingness to inform the high command of the real conditions on the ground.”

As of now, the Russian Ministry of Defence has not officially commented on or confirmed Anashkin’s removal.
