The Russian Ministry of Defense announced a massive strike on Ukrainian territory using long-range weapons, in particular the Oreshnik missile system. The ministry claims that the attack was a “response” to an alleged attack by Ukrainian drones on Putin’s residence in Valdai at the end of December 2025.
The Russian Defense Ministry’s statement said that on the night of January 9, Russian troops allegedly launched a massive strike with high-precision long-range land- and sea-based weapons. Among other things, Moscow announced the use of the Oreshnik medium-range mobile ground-based missile system, as well as strike drones.
The Russian side claims that the strikes were carried out against “critically important targets” on Ukrainian territory, in particular facilities related to the production of unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as energy infrastructure, which, according to the Russian Federation, supports the Ukrainian military-industrial complex.
The Russian Ministry of Defense also stated that “the strike objectives were achieved” and threatened further attacks, calling Ukraine’s actions “terrorist.”
We remind you that tonight, after the missile strike on the Lviv region, laboratory tests were carried out: the radiation background is within normal limits, and no excess levels of harmful substances in the air were detected.
