Two Russian drones attacked a civilian vessel in neutral waters that belongs to Turkey and was carrying corn. The strike killed the captain, while one other person is considered missing and one crew member was injured.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported this on Telegram.
According to him, citizens of Azerbaijan and India were on board the vessel.
Eleven crew members were rescued. One of them was injured, while the fate of one other person is still being clarified.
Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine has repeatedly proposed concrete steps toward de-escalation and ensuring the safety of navigation in the Black Sea. Similar proposals, he said, have also come from third countries.
The president said international pressure on Russia is needed to restore global food security.
“Russia consistently chooses terror and the sinking of civilian vessels instead of normal navigation. Pressure is needed to restore global food security,” Zelenskyy said.
