Russia plans to declare ‘victory’ in war against Ukraine and NATO – intelligence

Russia is preparing to declare its “victory” in the war against Ukraine and NATO on the anniversary of the full-scale invasion on February 24. This was reported by the Main Intelligence Directorate.

The GUR explains that the Kremlin is using the thesis of victory over NATO, as Russian propaganda has long presented the war as a confrontation with the Alliance.

Russian intelligence services plan to use the intensification of US efforts to end the war, in particular, the recent meeting of US and Russian delegations in Saudi Arabia.

Intelligence also received information that Russian propagandists have been tasked with increasing destabilization within Ukraine and discrediting international partners.

To do so, they will spread narratives about “betrayal of the West,” “secret agreements between the United States and Russia without Ukraine’s participation,” “illegitimacy of the Ukrainian government,” and “losses of the Ukrainian army.” A special emphasis will be placed on corruption allegations to undermine Kyiv’s credibility among its partners.

According to the GUR, in this way Russia seeks to present itself as a “constructive party” allegedly ready for a peaceful settlement, while accusing European countries of obstructing peace.
