On June 22, Russian forces launched a missile strike on a training ground used by one of the mechanized brigades of Ukraine’s Ground Forces. At the time of the attack, military personnel were conducting training exercises.
Thanks to timely safety measures implemented after the air raid alert was issued, mass casualties were avoided. However, according to official information, there are both killed and injured servicemembers. As of 17:27, three people are known to have died and 11 wounded. No further details have been reported.
All those wounded are receiving necessary medical assistance in healthcare facilities.
A special commission has been established by the Command of Ukraine’s Ground Forces to investigate the circumstances of the incident. Law enforcement agencies are also working at the scene.
“We express our sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of the fallen servicemen,” the statement said.
Additional safety measures are being implemented to protect the lives and health of soldiers in the event of repeated missile or air strikes by the aggressor state.
