Russia is helping China create an automated system for managing amphibious operations, codenamed “Sword,” which could be used in potential actions against Taiwan. This is evidenced by documents published by the BlackMoon hacker group.

According to the materials, in June 2024, Rosoboronexport signed a contract with China’s CETC International Co Ltd worth €4.284 million to supply technical documentation for this system.

The “Sword” system involves the creation of software and hardware complexes for command and control vehicles, field command posts, communications equipment, combat vehicles, and portable devices. The system provides secure data exchange and coordination at the tactical and operational levels — from the corps to individual servicemen.

Russia has already completed two stages of research and development work — a preliminary design and a draft technical design, which have been approved by Chinese partners. Currently, prototypes are being manufactured and tested at a proving ground.

According to the technical description, the system will allow the Chinese military to track their own and enemy positions in real time and coordinate actions with artillery and aviation.

Experts believe that “Sword” could become one of the tools in the event of China preparing amphibious operations against Taiwan.
