At the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, rescuers continue to eliminate the consequences of a Russian drone strike on the shelter of the destroyed 4th power unit. The fire has been extinguished, and rescuers have begun to partially open the structures.
This was announced by the head of the State Emergency Service Andriy Danik.
As of 15:00, there is no burning of insulation, and the rescuers are partially opening the shelter structures and filling the voids with fire extinguishing agents.
“The work of the SES specialists is complicated by sub-zero temperatures, snow and icing of the structure. The rescuers are working directly outside the protective structure at an altitude of more than 100 meters,” the SES said.
According to the rescuers, air quality is constantly monitored. The radiation background at the industrial site near the Chernobyl nuclear power plant does not exceed the permissible values.
