Former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili believes that Russia will leave all of Ukraine’s territory after the collapse of Vladimir Putin. He also suggests that Russia may begin to fall apart after that.
Mikheil Saakashvili, who is in prison in Tbilisi, responded in writing to DW’s question about Russia’s war against Ukraine.
According to Saakashvili, after the collapse of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, Russia will leave all of Ukraine’s territory.
“After that, there is a high probability that Russia will begin to fall apart, and Ukraine will be forced to ensure order and administer some territories, for example the Black Sea coast”, Saakashvili wrote.
In the opinion of the former Georgian president, Putin is losing to Ukraine. At the same time, he suggests that the Russian president may simultaneously begin expansion toward Belarus, Georgia and Armenia in order to establish full control over the region.
Saakashvili also commented on the policy of incumbent U.S. President Donald Trump and said that he has recently been satisfied with his actions.
“I know that many Ukrainians actually do not like his statements, but look at his arms sales to Ukraine, economic sanctions against Russia, which are much more effective than 21 European packages (of sanctions against Russia), look at how Americans are pushing Russia out of the Caucasus, and you will understand that no American president has been this tough on Russia since Ronald Reagan”, he wrote.
