President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that, against the backdrop of preparations for a meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, Russia is moving troops to launch new offensive operations.
He announced this in an evening address after receiving a report from intelligence and military command.
According to him, Putin is not interested in ending the war or a ceasefire, but wants to present the meeting with the US as his own victory and continue to put pressure on Ukraine.
“He is definitely not preparing for a ceasefire or an end to the war. Putin is only interested in presenting the meeting with America as his personal victory and continuing to act as before, putting pressure on Ukraine as before. There is no sign that the Russians have received signals to prepare for a post-war situation,” the president said.
As a reminder, a meeting between US President Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin is scheduled for Friday, August 15.
According to Trump, during the meeting he will seek to reach a ceasefire agreement.
