The head of the Presidential Office, Andriy Yermak, has commented on reports in the international media that Ukraine is allegedly negotiating with Russia to stop strikes on energy infrastructure.

Earlier, The Financial Times, citing knowledgeable sources, wrote that Kiev and Moscow might be holding secret talks mediated by Qatar to stop attacks on energy facilities.

However, Andrei Yermak denied this information, noting that there have been several recent conferences on energy security co-organized by Qatar, but without Russia’s participation. He emphasized that if Qatar or another country is ready to conclude separate agreements with Ukraine on energy security, it is quite acceptable.

Yermak also emphasized that there are no agreements with Russia at the moment, but Ukraine is ready to consider proposals if there are any. He suggested that talk about possible negotiations could have arisen as a reaction to the recent conferences, but said that Ukraine is not negotiating with Russia yet.

In addition, Yermak denied the information that Western partners had allegedly demanded that Ukraine refrain from strikes on certain facilities on Russian territory.
