Russian President Vladimir Putin has had a telephone conversation with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban. According to Russian state media, Orban initiated the dialog.
The parties discussed economic cooperation, the war in Ukraine, and the situation in the Middle East. Orban emphasized his interest in promoting a political and diplomatic settlement of the war, noting that his contacts with Western leaders could be useful in this process.
Putin, for his part, accused Ukraine of a “destructive position” that, in his words, allegedly makes it impossible to reach a peaceful settlement.
As a reminder, yesterday, December 9, Orban met in Florida with US President-elect Donald Trump, businessman Elon Musk, and Trump’s future National Security Advisor Mike Waltz.
