The number of people injured in the Russian attack on Kyiv on September 23 has risen to 43. Two residents of the capital were killed.
This was reported by Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klitschko.
Earlier, 25 people injured and two fatalities had been reported. One of the men died in hospital from his injuries, while another person was killed at the scene of the attack.
Russian forces attacked the capital with a large number of drones, many of them jet-powered. The strikes and falling debris damaged civilian and infrastructure facilities.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, responding to the attack, said that Russia continues to turn civilian and critical infrastructure into targets, including pharmaceutical facilities, gas stations, railways, communications networks and shopping centers.
Against the backdrop of the strikes, Zelenskyy also called on partners not to ease sanctions pressure on Russia.
“Important that sanctions send a signal to Russia and, in particular, its oligarchs, that the war must be ended, not waited out,” the president said.
Zelenskyy noted that he is raising the issue of support for Ukraine and sanctions against Russia during meetings at the UN General Assembly in New York.
