By the end of the year, Ukraine will receive military equipment worth about $5 billion from US warehouses through the PURL mechanism. The key priority is the supply of air defense systems.
This was reported by Suspilne with reference to NATO Deputy Secretary General Radmila Shekerinska.
Ukraine will receive air defense systems, ammunition, and necessary spare parts worth a total of about $5 billion. The PURL mechanism meets the most urgent needs of the Ukrainian army, especially in the field of air defense.
“The lion’s share of air defense equipment comes to Ukraine through PURL — it is literally the difference between life and death,” Shekerinska said.
According to her, logistical deliveries are carried out continuously through hubs in Poland and Romania, and funding is provided by European allies and Canada. Australia and New Zealand have also joined the initiative.
Shekerinska added that despite significant deliveries, Ukraine still lacks air defense capabilities, and the defense industries of NATO countries are ramping up production to cover this shortfall.
