On June 3, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte arrived in Kyiv on a working visit. He was welcomed at the railway station by representatives of the Ukrainian authorities.
Photos of Mark Rutte’s arrival were published by Ukrzaliznytsia, although the post has since been removed from the company’s social media pages.
“Today, we are pleased to welcome NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte at Kyiv railway station. This visit is extremely important, as were all previous ones, because it is a gesture of solidarity and support from the Alliance for our country,” the statement said.
Among those greeting the head of the North Atlantic Alliance in the photos was Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.
As a reminder, in April Mark Rutte said that NATO member states planned to provide Ukraine with $60 billion in military assistance in 2026. This amount does not include the funds Ukraine is expected to receive under the European Union’s €90 billion loan program.
The NATO Secretary General also stated that only six or seven countries currently provide the bulk of funding for the PURL mechanism and called on European allies to distribute the costs of purchasing U.S.-made weapons for Ukraine more evenly.
