On February 19, the first meeting of US President Donald Trump’s Board of Peace took place in Washington. During the meeting, $7 billion in financial aid for the Gaza Strip was approved and an American police mission in the region was announced.
This was reported by the Associated Press.
Representatives from more than 40 countries participated in the meeting. Donald Trump said that Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, the UAE, Morocco, Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan, and Kuwait agreed to provide funds to form a joint aid package for Gaza after the bombings and attempts at occupation by Israel. According to the Associated Press, this amount is only part of the approximately $70 billion needed to rebuild the Gaza Strip.
“Every dollar spent is an investment in stability and hope for a new and harmonious ‘region,’” the publication quotes the US president as saying.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stressed that until Hamas surrenders and disarms, the Gaza Strip will not be rebuilt.
According to Trump, the US will allocate $10 billion to the Board of Peace, but he did not specify how exactly it would be used. The United States also plans to send 12,000 police officers and 20,000 soldiers to the Gaza Strip to “stabilize the situation.” Major General Jasper Jeffers said that Indonesia, Morocco, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, and Albania have pledged to send their troops, while Egypt and Jordan have agreed to train the police and security forces.
According to Trump, unlike his Board of Peace, the UN allegedly “does not get involved in resolving conflicts,” adding: “Someday I will be gone. The UN, I think, will be much stronger. The Peace Council will almost supervise the UN and ensure its proper functioning.”
Recall that the “Board of Peace” is a key element of the second phase of the plan to end the war in the Gaza Strip, which the US announced on January 14, 2026. Its members include Donald Trump, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Jared Kushner, and Tony Blair, and the body is to perform the functions of the enclave’s external administration until the Palestinian National Authority is reformed.
According to Western media reports, the US is offering other countries the opportunity to purchase a “permanent seat” on the Council for $1 billion. Hungary, Argentina, and Kazakhstan, among others, have confirmed their willingness to join, and Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko have also received invitations. Ukraine also received an invitation, but President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that it was “very difficult to imagine how we could be together with Russia in one council or another.”
The UN said it was working in accordance with its program and charter and was “not concerned” about the emergence of new organizations, including the Board of Peace.
