On 4 April, negotiations began in Kyiv between representatives of Ukraine, France and the United Kingdom on the possible deployment of a foreign military contingent.

The meetings are held at the level of chiefs of military staff. The French delegation is headed by General Thierry Burkhardt, and the British by Admiral Anthony Radakin. They are to hold a series of talks with the Ukrainian military and meet with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The main purpose of the visit is to discuss the possibility of deploying a foreign contingent in Ukraine.
