On the night of October 17, Russian troops carried out a massive attack with Shahed-type drones on Kryvyi Rih. This was reported by the head of the city’s Defense Council, Oleksandr Vilkul.
“Kryvyi Rih. A massive Shahed attack. Already more than 10 explosions and more than 10 Shaheds over the city. Air defense is working. Take care of yourselves and your loved ones,” he wrote around midnight.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that a wave of drones struck the city’s civilian infrastructure. According to him, there has been almost no night without Russian attacks in recent weeks.
“Nothing has changed for Russia: it continues to terrorize life in Ukraine. A wave of drones struck Kryvyi Rih, targeting civilian infrastructure. Dozens more strike drones were in the sky. Rockets were also detected,” the president said.
Zelensky emphasized that the main target of the strikes remains the energy infrastructure. “Russia hopes to leave our part of Europe an island of danger and mockery of people’s lives. It is important not to let this happen. Every air defense system is important for Ukraine in saving lives. Every decision that can strengthen us brings us closer to the end of the war,” he added.
The head of state thanked all partners who are helping to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense system, in particular within the framework of the agreements reached in Washington.
