        Marta Kostyuk reaches Roland Garros semifinal for the first time in history after defeating Svitolina

        Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk has reached the Roland Garros semifinals for the first time in her career, becoming the first Ukrainian woman in history to advance to the final four of the French Grand Slam. She secured the achievement by defeating Elina Svitolina in an all-Ukrainian quarterfinal, according to Suspilne Sport.

        Two Ukrainian players reached the quarterfinal stage of Roland Garros 2026. For Kostyuk, it was her first quarterfinal appearance in Paris, while Svitolina advanced to this stage of the tournament for the second consecutive year.

        Kostyuk took control of the opening set, winning three consecutive games early on and maintaining her advantage to close it out 6–3.

        Svitolina responded in the second set, winning the first three games and eventually taking the set 6–2 to force a decider.

        The third set began with both players exchanging games, but Kostyuk then won four consecutive games to seal the victory.

        Elina Svitolina (Ukraine, No. 7 seed) vs. Marta Kostyuk (Ukraine, No. 15 seed) — 1:2 (3:6, 6:2, 2:6)

        With the victory, Kostyuk became the first Ukrainian woman ever to reach the Roland Garros semifinals. She also extended her unbeaten run on clay courts to 17 matches.

        In the semifinals, Kostyuk will face neutral athlete Mirra Andreeva, who defeated Romania’s Sorana Cîrstea in her quarterfinal match.
