The aftermath of a nighttime Russian strike on a multi-story residential building in Kharkiv’s Saltivskyi district is being dealt with. A total of 38 people, including 10 children, have sought medical assistance.
This was reported by Kharkiv Regional Military Administration head Oleh Syniehubov on Telegram.
According to him, a 43-year-old man and a 14-year-old girl who suffered blast injuries are currently receiving treatment in hospitals. Other victims sustained injuries of moderate and mild severity.
Three children lived in the apartment that was hit by a Russian projectile. Their father managed to carry them out of the apartment on his own. Preliminary information indicates that the children did not suffer serious injuries.
The strike destroyed the ceiling structure between the third and fourth floors of the residential building. Overall, 18 apartment buildings in the Saltivskyi district were damaged, with more than 1,500 windows shattered.
Emergency responders, police officers and other relevant services are working at the scene. International organizations have also joined the recovery efforts, while more than 100 volunteers, together with municipal services, are helping to cover broken windows.
According to preliminary information, the building’s load-bearing structures were not damaged. However, experts will conduct additional assessments to determine whether the building will be suitable for further residence.
