Germany will allocate an additional $400 million to Ukraine for the purchase of ammunition for air defense systems and missiles for Patriot systems. The funds will be provided within the framework of international programs supporting Ukraine’s defense.
German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced this ahead of a meeting of NATO defense ministers in Brussels, according to European Pravda.
Germany is joining the PURL mechanism for the fourth time, through which the purchase of U.S. weapons and ammunition for Ukraine is financed.
“In this way, we are literally saving human lives every night and every day. This time, we are allocating $200 million,” Pistorius said.
Germany will also join the Jumpstart program, which предусматриes the purchase of missiles for Patriot systems.
“We have also agreed to participate by allocating $200 million for the purchase of PAC-3 guided missiles,” the German defense minister said.
Berlin called on other members of the Contact Group to contribute to financing the procurement of PAC-3 missiles to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense.
