Leipzig/Halle Airport denied reports that the Ukrainian An-124, near which a drone carrying explosives was discovered, was transporting ammunition. According to the airport, the Antonov aircraft were empty and carrying no cargo at the time of the incident.

After the discovery of the drone carrying explosives, Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG denied reports that one of the Ukrainian Antonov aircraft nearby had been loaded with ammunition.
“The Antonov aircraft in question were empty at the time of the incident and, accordingly, had no cargo on board,” said Maret Montavon, head of communications and political relations at Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG.
According to her, this assessment is consistent with the information the airport received from Antonov Logistics SALIS.
Germany’s Federal Ministry of the Interior also denied reports that there was ammunition on board.
An airport employee spotted the drone carrying explosives on the southern runway of Leipzig/Halle Airport on Wednesday night. According to security sources, it was located near a Ukrainian Antonov An-124 Condor transport aircraft.
As a reminder, on August 4, a drone carrying an explosive device was found near a Ukrainian Antonov An-124 Condor transport aircraft. The explosives were neutralized by Federal Police specialists. The investigation into the incident at Leipzig Airport is ongoing.
