Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced the results of two days of consultations following trilateral talks between Ukraine, the US, and Russia in Geneva. According to him, the military subgroup managed to achieve constructive results, while no progress was made in the political bloc.
This was reported by Suspilne, citing comments by Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The president said that the military subgroup had agreed on possible monitoring of the ceasefire.
“All three sides recognized that if the war ends, if there is a ceasefire, then the Americans will be primarily responsible for monitoring the ceasefire. They will be in charge in this area. And I think that this is still a very important result that the team has brought home today,” the president said.
Also, according to Zelenskyy, the number and timing of a new prisoner exchange may be determined in the coming days. At the same time, according to the head of state, no constructive results were achieved in the political subgroup.
“In the political subgroup, there are again sensitive issues regarding eastern Ukraine. The issue of Donbas, the issue of territory. No constructive solution has been found yet,” he said.
Over the next two days, Zelenskyy will work with his team to prepare messages and a mandate for the next round of negotiations. Another meeting may take place within 10 days, probably again in Geneva.
