The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has denied Russian claims that a Ukrainian drone attacked a bus carrying a children’s football team in Russia’s Bryansk region.
The statement was published by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the military, Ukraine’s Defence Forces did not use unmanned aerial vehicles against any targets in Bryansk region during the period in question.
The General Staff described the reports circulated by Russian officials as another Kremlin provocation and an attempt at information manipulation.
“Unable to achieve its declared objectives on the battlefield and suffering significant losses, the Russian Federation is increasingly resorting to information manipulation and the fabrication of accusations against Ukraine,” the statement said.
The General Staff also stressed that Russia continues to systematically violate international humanitarian law by targeting Ukrainian cities, residential areas, hospitals, schools and other civilian infrastructure.
The statement noted that dozens of civilians, including children, were killed in Russia’s latest missile attacks on Ukraine, including strikes on Kyiv.
Ukrainian military officials emphasized that the Armed Forces of Ukraine strike only legitimate military targets and do not conduct combat operations against the civilian population.
