Russian FSB Director Alexander Bortnikov has accused British intelligence services of ‘patronising’ acts of terrorism and sabotage on Russian territory. He made the comments at a meeting of CIS intelligence chiefs.
In particular, Bortnikov said that British special services oversaw the Ukrainian Security Service’s Operation “Pavutyna”, which resulted in the destruction or damage of Russian military aircraft at several airfields in early June.
‘The British provided further propaganda support, feeding the media with false reports about the alleged enormous damage and the exclusively Ukrainian authorship of the sabotage,’ Bortnikov said.
According to the head of Russia’s FSB, British intelligence MI6, together with Ukrainian special services, is allegedly planning attacks on critical infrastructure, including the use of combat swimmers.
Bortnikov also claims that it is Britain that is inciting the EU to armed confrontation with Russia. The goal of this, according to the head of the FSB, is to intimidate investors and ‘ensure the flow of their capital to their stock markets.’
Bortnikov also made threats against EU residents, saying that they could ‘look at the example of Ukraine.’
He did not provide any evidence to support his claims about Britain’s role in organising sabotage in Russia.
