Presidential elections will be held on December 14 in the Parliament building, and the inauguration will take place on December 29 this year. For the first time the president will be elected not by popular vote, but in parliament, writes “Ekho Kavkaza”.
This decision was approved by 80 votes in favor by members of the ruling Georgian Dream at a parliamentary session. A second round of elections (if necessary) will also be held on December 14.
Earlier, the opposition channel Mtavari reported that Georgian Dream Chairman Irakli Garibashvili and Konstantin Gamsakhurdia – son of the first President Zviad Gamsakhurdia – are being considered for the post of President of Georgia.
Today it became known that the renewed composition of the government will be approved at the parliamentary session on Thursday, November 28. Recall that the legitimacy of the Parliament is not recognized by the incumbent President Salome Zurabishvili and opposition parties.
