The Lithuanian authorities have proposed a proposal to ban Russians and Belarusians from serving in their armed forces.

The relevant amendments to the law have already been developed and registered, LRT reports.

Citizens of countries whose travel is banned by the government (Russia, Belarus, China) will not be allowed to perform professional military service and to serve in the volunteer forces of the Armed Forces, as well as other forms of voluntary and compulsory military service.

Also, if a serviceman becomes a citizen of one of these countries, he will be dismissed from the army.

The Lithuanian government has confirmed that professional military personnel cannot travel off-duty to countries that pose a threat to Lithuania’s national security, including Russia, Belarus, and China.
