The Cabinet of Ministers of Armenia has approved a draft law that initiates the official process of the country’s accession to the European Union.  The next step is to consider the bill in parliament.

This was reported by News.am.

Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan noted that in recent years, Armenia and the EU have established intense and dynamic relations.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan emphasized that the final decision on joining the EU will be made only after the referendum.

Armenia’s rapprochement with the West became noticeable after the loss of control over Nagorno-Karabakh in 2023, when Azerbaijan fully regained control of the region. Yerevan accuses Russia and the CSTO of inaction during the conflict, which forced the country to reconsider its foreign policy priorities.
