Residents of Cheboksary reported a series of explosions in the city on the night of 9 December. Local authorities confirmed the drone attack and the presence of casualties, and the ASTRA monitoring channel released details of the incident.
Traffic on Yakovlev Avenue was blocked, and an aid station was opened at School No. 20 on Khuzangaya Street. According to the head of Chuvashia, the explosions caused damage to residential buildings, and emergency services are working in an enhanced mode.
ASTRA has established that a multi-storey building at 6 Yakovleva Street has suffered significant damage. It is located about 450 metres from the VNIIR-Progress defence enterprise, which manufactures Kometa antennas and other products for the Glonass, GPS and Galileo systems for the Russian army. The Chuvashenergo enterprise is also located nearby.

TASS, citing Cheboksary authorities, reported four casualties, including one child. At the same time, according to ASTRA, local residents claim that at least two people were killed. One of the residents of the building at 6 Yakovleva Street said he saw two bodies after two drones hit the building. Two deaths were also reported in a local chat room, citing rescuers; one of them, according to eyewitnesses, served in the police.
According to unofficial reports from residents, at least seven drones may have attacked the city, but there is no confirmation of this information at this time.
