A group of arsonists who tried to destroy a military helicopter has been detained in Ukraine

The Security Service of Ukraine together with the National Police has detained five people who carried out arson attacks ordered by Russian special services in three regions of the country.

One of the groups tried to set fire to AFU aircraft in Kirovohrad region, while the others wanted to damage power substations, in particular Ukrzaliznytsya facilities.

Investigators found that the detainees were recruited by Russian security services when they were looking for a quick buck through Telegram channels, the SSU said.

In Kirovograd region

Detained three young men aged 17 and 18 years old, who penetrated the military airfield, where they tried to burn a helicopter of the AFU.

In addition, the defendants wanted to destroy one of the key power substations in the region to leave tens of thousands of local residents without light.

In Poltava region

A recidivist who burned a military jeep, which was involved in the performance of tasks on the eastern front, was exposed.

According to investigators, the figure was previously prosecuted for car theft, and in the fall of 2024 received an order from Russia to set fire to AFU vehicles.

In Cherkasy region

Detained 34-year-old resident of the region, who set fire to a transformer substation, which provides railroad traffic at one of the sites of the region.

The attackers are in custody. They face life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
