On November 25, a cargo plane crashed near a residential building in Vilnius near the local airport. One of the pilots was killed in the incident, while three other crew members were rescued. Lithuanian security services do not rule out the possibility of Russia’s involvement in the crash.
This was reported by LRT and Delfi.
According to media reports, the plane was en route from Leipzig, Germany, with four people on board: two pilots and two employees. One of the pilots died in the crash, and the rest of the crew was hospitalized with injuries. The house near where the plane crashed was damaged, but its residents were not injured.
It is reported that the plane belonged to the German transportation company DHL. The head of the National Crisis Management Center of Lithuania, Vilmantas Vitkauskas, called the crash of the Boeing cargo plane in Vilnius an accident, noting that the causes of the crash are still being investigated.
At the same time, Police Commissioner General Arunas Paulauskas did not rule out the possibility of a terrorist attack. “This version should be checked and studied. There is a lot of work to be done,” he said.
According to LZD, technical malfunctions are being considered as possible causes of the accident. Darius Jauniškis, director of the Lithuanian State Security Department, suggested that Russia could have been involved in the tragedy.
