Ukrainian presidential adviser and radio technology specialist Serhii “Flash” Beskrestnov has proposed giving civilians access to information about the movement of Shahed drones. He said this could help people respond to threats more quickly.
Serhii “Flash” Beskrestnov wrote about this on Facebook.
According to him, a decision has already been made to provide gas stations with access to the Shahed movement map. Ukrzaliznytsia and other organizations also have such access.
Flash noted that, because of the large number of users, it is effectively impossible to keep this information completely secret.
“Administrators of hundreds of Telegram channels have access and describe in words what they see. The question is: find at least one reason why this information should not be provided to the entire population? This could potentially save hundreds of lives,” he wrote.
Flash stressed that highly precise coordinates, target numbers, classified information and data on special targets should remain available only to the military. In his view, civilians only need to see where the threat is currently located.
As alternatives, he proposed several options:
- warning a person when a Shahed is approaching them and indicating the distance;
- showing information only over cities;
- displaying drone movements by grid squares, for example with an accuracy of 2 by 2 km.
