Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited the command post of the 225th Separate Assault Regiment in Sumy region. It was the soldiers of this unit who were the first to enter the territory of the Kursk region of the Russian Federation during the operation in 2024.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote about this on Telegram.
During the visit, the president listened to reports from commanders on the liberation of Andriivka and Kindrativka in the Sumy region, as well as the situation with Russian counterattacks.
“There were reports on the liberation of Andriivka and Kindrativka in the Sumy region, Russian attempts at counterattacks, and our next steps to liberate Ukrainian land,” Zelenskyy said.
Separately, he discussed with the commanders the issues of provisioning, training of recruits, and the needs of the unit.
“The regiment commander requested that the unit be scaled up to brigade level. I will discuss this issue with the Commander-in-Chief,” the president said.
He also presented state awards to the servicemen and thanked them for the results achieved during the Kursk operation.
