President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that he will determine Ukraine’s further diplomatic steps after it becomes known who Russia will send to possible talks in Turkey. He also thanked international partners for their efforts to achieve peace.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy made this statement in his evening address on May 14.
“I am waiting to see who arrives from Russia, and then I will decide what steps Ukraine should take. The signals from them in the media are not yet convincing,” the head of state said.
According to Zelenskyy, the possible meeting is supported by leaders of the Global South, as well as Pope Francis, who has declared the Vatican’s readiness to mediate. The president also mentioned the clear support for dialogue from China, the US, and Europe.
“We also hear that President Trump is considering the possibility of visiting Turkey. So this could be the strongest argument,” Zelenskyy added.
Zelenskyy called on the international community to increase pressure on Russia to achieve real steps towards peace.
