President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russia is deliberately dragging out the war and trying to deceive countries that still rely on diplomatic appeals instead of pressure. He emphasized that words do not work on Moscow, and the only effective tool is tough pressure.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this in his evening address on May 29.
“Words do not work with Moscow. Even the so-called “memorandum” that they promised and allegedly prepared for more than a week has not been seen. It has not been handed over to Ukraine. It has not been handed over to our partners. Even Turkey, as the country that hosted the first meeting, has not been given the new agreement either,” the president emphasized.
According to the Ukrainian leader, the Kremlin promised this document to the United States and President Trump personally, but deceived again.
The Head of State said that he was in Kyiv after a visit to Germany, where agreements were reached to strengthen air defense, invest in joint production, in particular, missiles for Patriot systems and the development of the IRIS-T project.
According to Zelenskyy, a meeting was also held with the heads of the defense and diplomatic ministries to coordinate international contacts and prepare for further meetings. The President reported on conversations with representatives of the United States and the EU, during which he emphasized the need for real pressure on Russia. He also thanked the Ukrainian military for the accuracy of their strikes on Russian territory.
“This is absolutely true – it is in Russia that they must feel what war is like in order to be willing to engage in diplomacy,” the president said.
