President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that 13 people were killed and another 13 injured in a Russian strike on the railway station in Dnipro. He called on the United States, the EU and G7 countries to respond to Russia’s escalation with new and stronger sanctions.

        Zelenskyy reported this on Telegram.

According to the president, a Russian drone struck a platform where a regular suburban electric train and a scheduled passenger train were standing.

“Unfortunately, as of now, 13 people are known to have been killed. My condolences to their families and loved ones. Ten more people were injured,” Zelenskyy said.

Emergency services are working at the site of the strike.

The president noted that Russia continues to strike civilian targets after some sanctions against Russian oligarchs and the energy sector were eased.

Zelenskyy stressed that sanctions against Moscow and its war machine should not be weakened while the war continues and called for new sanctions measures from the European Union, the United States and the G7.

According to the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, the number of people injured in the Russian strike on Dnipro has risen to 13. Four of the victims are in serious condition — an 11-year-old boy, two men aged 40 and 53, and a 26-year-old woman.

Doctors assess the condition of the other injured people as moderate. All of them are in hospital and receiving the necessary medical care.
